Oppo F15 Review 2021

3 minute read

The successor to the Oppo F11 - the new year has begun with the launch of the Oppo F15. It is not yet clear whether we will get an F15 Pro, but for now, the F15 offers some essential updates such as an in-display fingerprint sensor, a quad rear camera, a slim profile, and a new gradient finish for the back.

The new packaging for the Oppo F15 looks great, and in the box, you will find a silicone case, SIM eject tool, Type-C cable, 20W power adapter, and a headset. We have the F15's 'Unicorn White' colored trim, which is interesting to look at. The gradient finishes on the back transition from white to bottom aqua blue and hints of lilac. It is still a laminated back panel, though not glass, but this color will help to hide fingerprints more than the 'Lightning Black' trim. What caught our attention right away when we picked up this phone was how slim and light it was. At 7.9mm in length and weighing 172g, it's almost comfortable to carry.

The Oppo F15 is a taller phone though, due to the 20: 9 ratio of the 6.4-inch display. You get a full-HD + (2400x1080) resolution and an AMOLED panel with Corning's Gorilla Glass 5. The display is bright enough and is also clear in sunlight. The colors are good and the icons and the sharpness of the text. The selfie camera has a top-notch on the top and a visible chin on the bottom.
Oppo F15 specification and software

The choice of SC in Oppo's F15 is somewhat lacking. The MediaTek Helio P70 SCO was used in the F11 series last year. Although the chip itself offers decent performance, it is now at the level where we usually charge Rs. The 10,000 mark (like Realme 3) makes the Oppo F15 clearly feel underpowered, while the Realme X2 and Redmi K20 offer Qualcomm's superior Snapdragon 730 series SoC at the same price.

The Oppo F15 is only available in one configuration, with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The latter uses the UFS 2.1 standard, which is good. Other features include Dual 4G with VOLET, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, Widevine L1 certification, the general suite of GPS and sensors. There is no FM radio on this phone. You will also get a 4,000mAh battery with Oppo's VOOC 3.0 flash charge technology.
Oppo F15 performance and battery life

We have used the Oppo F15 as our primary device for a few days and the experience was quite good. It's not the easiest phone to fit in the pocket of pants, but outside of that, we liked the lightness of it, which didn't make it easy to use. You can enable monotone mode with the toggle switch in the notification shade, but sadly, there is no gesture to trigger it. The phone didn't overheat when using the camera extensively or even playing games, which is good.

Games run very well PUBG Mobile defaults to 'Medium' graphics presets and the gameplay is smooth. Oppo also has Game Assistant, which is accessible within any game and provides the option to block notifications, etc. Other pressing titles like Asphalt 3: Legends also went well, though somewhat due to the quality of the graphics.
